There has been no change to the EX3 (excpet firmware upgrades). NAB is around the corner though, so who knows what will happen then - an EX3 upgrade seems unlikely though.

Just as a technical and market prognosticator, I'm guessing there will be a new EX camera but it won't be based on the EX3 design although it might be in the same or slightly higher price range.

There's a big gap between the EX1R, EX3, 350. It could be 1/2" chip shoulder mount interchangeable lens EX in the $9-$12,000 (USA) price range. EX300 maybe.

Other directions, although less likely, would be a camera that can record to both flash card (SDHC/SxS) and XDCAM disc or a CCD based EX model with smaller chip relative to CMOS obviously.

Craig, a CCD model would be nice but I strongly assume that with JVC's links with Sony that would conflict with the JVC HM700 and so wouldn't go down too well.

That's why I say less likely regarding CCD.

I can't help but think that a shoulder mount in price range I mention above will somehow compete with JVC though. Most likely IMHO is 1/2" CMOS shoulder mount which would be close to the HM700 price range.

Sony does make CCD XDCAM HD cameras though and such camera might be very different than the HM series. Again I don't think this is likely but it's not out of the realm of possibility.

ex3upgrade

ive heard it will be a 1/2inch shoulder mount off the ex3 style. also to compete with the upcoming panasonic hpx375 which will be an upgrade to the 300. same 1/3 inch chips but theyre supposed to be different in some way, most likely better in lowlight, not sure what but we should know answer to both on monday when the press releases come out
