New Ex1r owner

Hello forum.

Some may recall several posts of mine in the winter months. Well, after a LOT of dvinfo reading and playing with a friend's DVX100 for a while, I bought an Ex1r.

It's a serious piece of equipment.

I had been very set on getting a shoulder mount camera. Until, that is, I conferred with a pro camera\editor friend and he let me use the DVX for a month. That plus the camera I had been about to purchase, an HM700, cost more than the Ex.

Sony Vegas 9 came with my camera. I wasn't aware it was part of the deal, so that was a bonus since I needed a new NLE. I had been leaning towards Avid - I loved the 30 day trial version - but I'll try Vegas.

Now all I need to do is get my new computer going - my three year old laptop is seriously wheezing as I type this.

Thanks for the help, dv-ers.

I'll be VERY curious to see how this works out for you.

Perrone, yep, I've read your posts on Vegas 9 issues. I'll give it a try and if it's not working, I'll get Avid.

I got so used to using my left hand on the keyboard to make exact cuts with the frame\number keys and in\out, return to in\out, that I'm hoping Vegas has something similar. Right now it's reminding me of an older version of Premiere Pro I was using at a local TV station.

Then again, I haven't even started to explore Vegas.
