Ext audio missing on EX1 manual setting?
I cannot figure out why external 48v mic works in auto mode but when switched to manual there is no sound! Have checked EX1 audio volume is set to -35db trim and pot is at 5 as usual, it was all working normally till now. Has anyone any ideas?

Yes phantom is on. In auto mode everything is fine. In manual mode sound has gone, very strange.

mabey because AUTO mode can really crank up a low signal, so your expecting there to be a lot more there when you switch to manuel. listen closer, mabey it is working and you just need to adjust things different?
because it really isnt a Phantom powered mic, even if you thought it was, and you didnt change the internal battery in it? You got it off ? :-)

If you are using only one mic - it must be plugged into Ch 1.
In the audio input menu scroll down to the bottom and choose "Ext Channel Select" & set it to "Ch 1" Then in Audio Output set your Monitor CH to "CH-1" Have all switched on the back of the camera set to manual. Should be good. Report back with your results.

Re: Ext audio missing on EX1 manual setting?
Thank you for the info - it worked. Somehow 18 months has gone by and I have just had the same problem! The camera has just come back from Sony so things had changed. Anyway now the problem has been solved. Must respond sooner in future!

I recently had a similar problem when I got the camera back from Sony. Turns out they had jammed the switch when they installed the rear cover.

Jeez, three years later and they are STILL doing this c**p!? They did the SAME thing to my EX1 when they were replacing the rear plate due to the paint wear issue. Wow.

on the top handle there are two screws undo them inside you find a little circuit board make sure that is connected properly.
Otherwise could have problems with xlr's wear and tear maybe? |
