Help on converting QT movie to Avid System
Good morning:
I recently helped a friend shoot some video for a project he is doing. He shoots in SD and is tape-based on an AVID system. I shot on the Sony EX-1 in HD and converted the movie to QT using Sony's conversion system to take video off of my cards. I made a data DVD for him in which I added the QT cuts. When he tries to get it into the AVID, he gets audio and only a white screen for video. HD vs. SD? If anyone has a solution on how to get my footage into his system, I would surly appreciate as he begins his edit this Friday. Thanks, Phil |

re: White Screen
with sound and white screen is usually an indication that the computer is missing the codec that the clip was encoded with.

Thanks, Ted
So, you don't think it is an HD vs SD thing? I wonder where he could get the correct codec?

What kind of quicktime files did you make? And why did you convert your EX1 files? The Avid (if he is using Media composer) reads these natively. Just give him the BPAV file structure from the card. That's the fastest AVID workflow in existence.

Thanks, Perrone
I converted these in XDCAM Transfer. I hope I still have them on the card. If so, I will give him the raw file, correct? If I have blown them off the card, all I have is the QT file. Any suggestions there?

Suggestions? You can start by telling us what kind of quicktime file you made. There must be 100 different codecs that can be placed in a quicktime container. Second, is your friend on a Mac or PC? And are YOU on a Mac or PC?
Answers to those questions might help us get somewhere.

Same problem after importing into Vegas 9 Pro and MC 3.
Hi, Using a new DTE from Focus, fs-h200 ppro, i end up with white videos and ok audios.
BUT, I can play the movies using the Final Media Player with no problems but none of my sw sees the videos such as Sorensen, Vegas and AVID. I am using a PC Vista 64. Focus web page is down. Thanks, Patrick PS: Shot w/ HD200UB |
