Lenovo S10e for Sony EX3 Backup

Hello,

Has any one had any experience using the Lenovo S10e as a location backup / transfer machine, It has an express 34 slot and its really small... Great for slipping into the camera case and a sniff at £199.

Let me know your thoughts.

I have it and I am totally satisfied with it. Unloading is very quick with the clibbrowser. And using the VLC player you can even playback the .mp4 files fluently. The clipsborowser does not play back very fluently, due to the small processor.

Changing the harddisk is easy, I have upgraded to a 500 GB in a couple of minutes.

I'm in total agreement with Eva. The Lenovo S10 is a great substitute for a MacBook Pro or a full sized PC laptop in the field. I use it while I'm shooting on the road for footage transfers and then in the evening to check email and whip it out at the airport for some pre-flight browsing. No complaints at all - except that it's not available any longer. If you find one, buy it quickly as the newer units don't have the ExpressCard 34 slot any longer.

If anyone knows that this isn't the case, kindly let me know as I would like to get another one.

Lenovo S 10 with Express Card 34 slot ?

Regarding this laptop -- mine will not recognize a 16gb Sony SxS card -- but it will recognize an 8gb SxS card. Has anyone experienced this ? Know of any fixes so 16gb will be recognized ?

all I can say Russ is that I've never put anything but a 16gb SxS card in the ExpressCard slot and made dozens and dozens of transfers flawlessly. So I don't know why you are having problems, but I would re-check for the latest Sony SxS PC drivers and re-install them to check if that's the problem. Can't think it could be anything else other than the card itself and for that you would want to put a different 16gb SxS card in to check.
