It probably has been covered before but I can't find it.
If we use the same picuture profile for the EX1 as the EX3 will it look the same? |

from what i read, it will not match correctally at all, they even indicated that between 2 SAME cameras you will still have to do some tweaking to get a perfect match.
http://www.dvinfo.net/forum/sony-xdc...e-recipes.html some of the info is in that huge long thread.

I was told by someone at Sony at the Power of Images event in Bishopsgate London late last year that the original EX1, the EX3 and the new EX1r all have a "slightly different colour space"...my interpretation of what he told me.
Assuming I understood it correctly, I imagine that the same picture profile set-up would look a little different on my EX3 to an original EX1 (and as pointed out, there might be some very slight variations from camera to camera within an individual product group too). This is no doubt due to the manufacturing tolerances anything as complex as a XDCAM EX has to be manufactured to (all be it, I imagine quite a small window of variation). Maybe we should get a EX3 Picture Profile thread going on DVinfo? - and let's hope it's does not become too long or as complex to follow as the EX1 thread on PPs we've all no doubt read - great info in there and cudos and cyber beers to everyone involved in that - but it's just very hard to find some of the relevant info now ;-)

On the EX1R you have to manually transfer an EX3 profile at least on present hardware. The files are not interchangeable.
I plan to do some tests to see how close they are in the near future. |

Olof, I believe it was the same between the original EX1 and EX3 too (regarding needing to manually transfer picture profiles). So it seems each EX cam line requires this/the files are not (easily) interchangeable. Someone, correct me if this is wrong.
Anthony, OK, I've just set it up, here: http://www.dvinfo.net/forum/sony-xdc...-profiles.html
