clip browser conversion

i shot a video some days ago with a rented camera but didnt get my clips out immediately, although the company that rents out the camera waits for 2days for you to come get your clips.but what is surprising me now is that when i went to get my clips yesterday,he said he had already copied them as avi files which is a new upgrage clip browser has without dropping resolution.he talked about clip browser unlocking the mp4 files and converting them to ready to edit avi.pls i dont understand it.is this true?is it a new conversion process.will the files still maintain my 1920*1080 resolution?and what adobe project preset do i use?am realy worried.thx

In clip Browser you can export your files as AVI but this will not be in 1920x1080, it comforms to the DV AVI standard (720x576 pal or 720x480 ntsc)

Not good!

Rental house guy should be slapped!
The best use for the Clip browser to copy the clips, never convert.
Convert later, if required.

I now only edit unconverted clips. Zero rez loss.

I'm not sure I understand the edit unconverted?

I use Clip Browser to transfer and verify the clips from the SxS cards and then use XDCAM transfer to convert them to Quicktimes. However, these clips are essentially unconverted, they're just re-wrapped into a Quicktime FCP can recognize. My sequence setting is still set to XDCAM 35VBR 1920x1080P24/30.

And yes he should definitely be slapped.
