EX1 freaks out

The story has a happy ending - it's fine after being left switched on for 30 minutes near an air conditioning unit, but in those first five minutes of setup before a long day's shoot, this is not the sort of rushes you want to see:

YouTube - EX1 freaks out

15 minute walk to venue in the rain, had a sort of 'Bag Mac' over my backpack, but it felt damp inside. My takehome lessons: 1) EX1 is tough old boot, 2) Don't be cheap - get a cab next time.

Wow. You could call that a picture profile and people would think you're very creative.

It's the Amiga style blocks - sort of like The Hitch Hiker's Guide To The Galaxy (film version) that really impress me.

FWIW The temptation to apply percussive therapy (aka 'Give it a whack') was strong, but I resisted.

ahhhh, "percussive therapy" - I like that. I would've considered the 6-inch-drop technique... followed by the 12-inch-drop if the 6 didn't work.... ;-)

Well, yes - I had considered this an excellent upgrade path to the EX1-R, but I've found myself getting quite emotionally attached to my particular unit. "There are many quite like it but this one is mine" and all that. Glad it recovered, especially as I had an hour's presentation to record an hour after that footage was taken.
