New Memory for XDCAM EX ?
I just saw this new Sony Memory Stick Adaptor for XDCAM EX which will use the Sony Memory Stick Pro HG Duo. Do you know the list price for the adaptor yet ?

I just had a thought, this adaptor will work with the new EX1-R but will it work ok with the EX1 ?
Will the EX1 need another firmware update ? I'm already using the MXR/Transcend so hopefully my EX1 is ready for the new sony adaptor. Paul.

A firmware update is required for the EX1 and EX3. I have been told that this update will be available to end users to install at their own risk. I believe the new firmware prevents the camera from going into record before the previous clip has been written to the card, something which can lead to corrupt clips with SDHC adapters. Its all in my detailed review http://www.xdcam-user.com/?page_id=308

The MacWorld video mentions a firmware upgrade for this and for the lifed SxS-1 memory. I guess this will be so the camera shows the life countdown.

So the new firmware stops the camera recording before the light turns green. I'm well aware of the need to let the record light turn green so if this is all that the firmware changes then i'll watch the light manually instead of risking doing the upgrade. That's if i can still use the adaptor with my current firmware, or are you saying that the adaptor won't work at all without that new firmware ? Cheers. Paul.

I did however miss some shots, before I had realized how it works (and not having noticed that the red dot was not on in the viewfinder, I was sure the camera was recording after I pressed the button - when in fact, it wasn't :)).

The new MEAD-MS01 will not work without the firmware update, at least that's what I have been told.
The firmware update process is pretty straight forward and easy to do. It's quite hard to mess it up, but a power failure during the process could be disastrous. I will be willing to do both of mine when it becomes available.
