Phu-120k
I have just noticed on the B&H site they have a Sony PHU-120K Professional Hard Disk Recording Unit, to record 600 minutes (6 hours 40 minutes) in HQ, which works with both the EX1 and EX3. Priced at $919.95+shipping. This is the first time I noticed it, so I am not sure whether it is something new, or something I never noticed before.
In the past I looked at their PHU-60K and read so many bad reviews about it, I quickly decided not to even consider it. But I am wondering if this 120K version is solid and worth buying for my new EX3, which I should get in about a week or so (it is ordered already but since I am paying with a debit card with a daily limit, it takes about a week to pay for in full). So, has anyone used the PHU-120K and if so, did it cause any problems or did it work properly? |

From the product description aka ... "Shock Detection" it is based upon Harddrive technology and NOT on Solid State Drive (SSD) technology. So it will be prone to the same problems as the PHU-60 model. Toshiba has 1.8" SSD's so one would think Sony could have at least provided an SSD option.

Maybe they wanted to keep the price relatively low, but if it has the same problems, I will continue looking for other solutions.
