Would Sony introduce a shoulder mount camera that records to disc in the EX codec?

I have a feeling the EX1R wont be the only thing being announced.
Lest just say that I might be tasked to co-produce a very ambitious music video involving very bright Videographers and popular music artists. Since its very ambitious as is, I’m willing to include almost any new camera Sony decides to release. What are the chances of Sony giving me a test unit for about week? and that has to include a weekend (I know beggers can't be choosers). I’m actually serious by the way. |

But there are many zooms that are also constant aperture, unlike video zoom lenses. Even those lenses with an aperture ring are not particularly smooth to adjust.

I'm certain yourself and Alister would be quite in the know as you're connected with the big guys in ways we're not for sure. I meant it's just frustrating for us bleeding edge types waiting even one more day for the goss. We need information now! |

At 9am UK time (8.00 GMT) tomorrow you'll be able to get accurate details about the real thing via my Blog. Not speculation or hearsay but real details. Can't say more until then.
Or you could come see me at the Televisual Roadshow in Bristol on Tuesday, Cardiff Thursday/Friday. http://www.televisual.com/roadshow/ or the EXperience event in Dublin on Wednesday. Pre Booking required for either event! http://www.eurotek.ie/Events/event.aspx?pageid=31

I do try to help this and other communities with honest advice, tips, workflows etc. I have given my time preparing free video tutorials, answering questions on the board publically or via PM's and even over the phone. I do feel that I have earn't the right to do a bit of self promotion. Besides which the information that I will post once the embargo is lifted will be accurate and correct and not based on speculation, unlike some of the other links that have appeared.

I for one have always appreciated and respected Alister's input. And if you look closely at what you call "self promotion" it is full of useful information that will make everyone a better XDCAM shooter and beyond.
How about in the nose and out the mouth a deep breath for all of us and lets enjoy the announcement tomorrow. Thank you Alister My Sony gear had never let me down and I look forward to the next upgrade. |

Here's what I'd like to see from Sony: An EX / XDCAM 3XX series Hybrid, This dream shoulder mount Camera would be capable of recording onto either SXS, Optical disc, or both simultaneously. If over-heating, or battery-life is not an issue, this camera would be idea.

I'll play. I'd like...
Full frame DSLR-like camera with: proper audio controls and connectors, full frame, sensor SDI or HDMI out, at least 35Mbit xdcam codec, no jellow like the current DSLR's, undercrank/overcrank, SD or CF card recording, small but better handheld ergonomics than current hybrids, able to use any canon, nikon, leica lenses. That, would be BIG. |
