EX3 tripod bracket kit from Sony: yes or no
I am considering getting the EX3 tripod bracket update kit, part # HPMWEX3/1...and I know this has been talked about before on this board....so, my question is...
Is it worth the $20.24 to get it? yes or no..... TIA......

Yes. It makes mounting the camera on a tripod much more stable.
It's worth the money. I know some people are still be disatisfied with the design of the mount, but I think you'd really have to abuse the camera to break it.

Hi Bill,
Is that the full part number for this bracket update kit? I'm coming to the states for a v short time and would also like to get this. BTW, I also have one of the ST-7 shoulder mounts for the EX3. Cool piece of kit but the power cable's a bit wonky. Best, Joe |

It´s a must
and if you´re getting it for 20$, you´re doing well, as it costs 50€ in Europe just make sure you get the longer screws for the front bracket aswell |

Well, you knew this was coming.... as you've seen it's been covered many times before... but I really (REALLY!) would recommend getting something much more "substantial" mounted under your EX3 (for tripod support as well a stability) rather than this Sony add on. This little bracket only solves one of the two faults with the EX3's tripod mount, the other being far more potentially catastrophic if the camera and tripod plate union were to fail. Just my opinion.
