One of my concerns is: how do I ingest into my desktop if the laptop drops dead. I don't want to be left with no method, other than teathering, to ingest when my MBP runs out of steam.

I get by fine with the SxS cards I have, so I'm not looking to try the alternative solutions of MxR etc
