I am planning to transfer some HDCAM footage to SXS for a location edit. Does anyone know if the EX30 recording deck will see original time code on the incoming HD-SDI pictures?

Yes, just change the TC menu to 'EXT Regen'. You will still have to manually trigger record though on the EX-30.

Another handy tip for EX-30 field work: Snip the AC Adapter cable between the yellow DC Jack and the AC Adapter itself and add a 4pin XLR Male Connector. On the AC Adapter end add a female 4pin XLR Connector.

You can now field power the EX-30 off any 12 volt source with a 4pin XLR connector. The unit only draws 12W.

Simply plug the 2 4pin XLR's together when you want to go back to mains.
