OCZ Slate ExpressCard 34 flash media...
Just thought I'd bring these to everyone's attention, saw this on MacNN the other day and it caught my interest. I'm in the market for a new camera and have been looking at the EX series but the media prices are high... think these could be a valid alternative?
OCZ Technology | Products | Flash Media | OCZ Slate Series Express Card Specs list the write time up to 12 MB/sec... and Amazon lists the price (with the wrong picture since they haven't been released) as $86 for the 32 gig: Amazon.com: ocz slate: Electronics |

Looks interesting, maybe we may see some other manufacturers developing these cards too, but my gut feeling is that there won't be a lot of demand other than EX1/EX3 users - unbless of course Canon, JVC, Panasonic and others adopt the ExCard.
I suspect the Express Card may be the modern day Betamax. |

In fact it is very interesting for the business man on the move who needs a lot of data handy when out of office. With capacities going higher and higher, I can see many other applications, too. For example I'll give it to every member of my sales team for reasons of availability of large amounts of data and data security at the same time.

JVC recently announced that they are now migrating towards SxS technology. They have a KA-MR100G SxS memory card docking recorder for their ProHD cameras which comes with an 8GB "JVC" SxS card.

Peter,
I hope you are right - I have just invested a lot of money in the EX3 and would hope the s x s format will be widely adopted by other manufacturers in their cameras and of course laptops etc. Time will tell. |

OCZ's specs don't much differ from the A-DATA faster SLC based expresscards which according to these forums, do not work either... so i wouldn't put too much hope on these
