Strobing on EX-3
I just shot some CU's of food on a dollie yesterday. When in post, FCS2, the clips seem to strobe with the movement. The footage is 1080 30P HQ, and I'm previewing on FCP video preview RAW on a 25" LCD 1920X1080. When I watch the footage directly from the camera out of component into my 50"plasma, there is little to none for strobing. My movements are very slow so I was very surprised. Shooting a hamburger in macro, the shot lasts about 7-8 seconds. Question is, is FCP preview not fast enough? Would I introduce even more strobe if I were to shoot in 1080 24P? I even exported a full size QT and it as well showed alot of strobing.
Thanks, Brian |

<Question is, is FCP preview not fast enough?>
FCP preview is just that, a preview. The only way to see the display correctly and to color correct is on an actual broadcast monitor. HD broadcast monitor would be nice. Quality of preview also depends on speed of your computer. My G4 1.5Gh laptop will edit HD from xdcam, but FCp display and editing is very slow. |
