Upgraded to v1.11. Tried Lexar 8GB card. Performance is ok not stellar.
Limitations so far...

1. to go from record to stby to record again, if done too quickly will cause error and the card will need to be restored.

2. Found that waiting at least 2 secs between buttoning off and on will stop the error occurring.

3. when comparing against Sony card, sony wrote info from cache to card in 4 secs from recording stop, ie activity light above card went from red to green.
Lexar 8 Gb took 9 secs to do the same.

4. removing several clips from a full card and trying to record again caused the restore error, as the card is too slow in a random write.

Rules so far,

1. Start with clear card
2. don't delete any clips
3. leave at least 2-3 secs between records.

Fine for linear records like seminars/presentations.
will try the 16GB to see if it is similar in the constraints as above, or how much worse it is.

Hi Steve,

Have you tried the Sandisk Multi Card ExpressCard™ Adapter ? I ask because I am having trouble finding the AFT, and after ringing Kingston, they told me the 33407 is obsolete in Australia!

I've ordered this

Sandisk Multi Card ExpressCard™ Adapter
SDAD-109-A11

at least it says it will handle SDHC cards on the unit.

Worth a punt...

I had exactly the same issues with the Lexar, clean card, long record no problems, but I've never lost
any data after restores.

Paul

This is great, so many possibilities, some work, some won't - I'm gonna have the largest collection of adapters and media - never mind, it'll all get used, I'm normally shooting with 3 EX1's so I'm keen to resolve this issue.

Paul

Just off to the bar to pick up my mail, should be some Kensington/AFT and various media to test!

report later.

Joe, maybe I'm wrong.
But I believe the SandDisk reader was found to not work in the EX1. It's posted here or in the "other" forum... Or maybe I'm mistaken.

Yes,

The adaptors need to be SDHC compatible.
So far the working combo for the EX1 in all HQ modes (not S&Q):

Kensington 7-in-1 Media Reader & (NEW) SanDisk Extreme III 16GB SDHC 30MB/s version.

I'm on day 3 and have not seen one error.

I'm looking forward to trying the new SanDisk Extreme III 32GB SDHC 30MB/s version.

Also, although the Kensington card is working great so far, I am still looking for other expresscard adapters
that will work and allow the EX1 memory compartment to close.

The AFT allows it to close, but does NOT work with the EX1.
