That may be interesting, but based on the upgrade which was needed to support the new Sony PHU-60K drive, I'll bet you need v1.1

You're probably correct about this.
For S&Q mode stick to your SxS. |

That's strange because I bricked my Transcend 8GB SDHC card when I tried to format it with the EX1 and Kensington adapter, maybe bad luck. Certainly would be a good inexpensive solution if it did work. I did get the Sandisk 16GB Extreme III 30MB/second card to work well.

I'm performing more tests tonight in HQ mode with the Kensington and new Extreme III 16GB 35MB/s. I have yet been able to make this combo error.
Actually, it's working great "so far". This is only my second day, but it looks promising. I can take the Extreme SDHC card into my card reader and play the files right from the SDHC card and they play back full 1920x1080P HQ footage smooth without any issues or stutter. These new Extreme cards are REAL fast. Nikon worked with SanDisk to make sure this card would work with the new Nikon D90 with its fast image acquisition and movie mode. It's kind of slick just pulling the small SDHC card out and having quick and clean access to your files. Just leave the expresscard adapter in the camera. |

- Reader and card fit in the camera with the door closed - Turn on camera "Need to format media" ... I blinked it was done Camera set to 720P HQ, LCD reads 28 minutes available - Recorded a couple quick bursts (3-5 seconds) works fine Left camera for a long chunk, Media Error around :20 min (restored, clips were all fine) - S&Q Motion (720P S&Q 60) Media Error after a few seconds (expected, no?) I did try to run the Crystal CPUID software. But I can't for the life of me figure out what I need to do to run this thing? Too many options. Anyways, its working. Too many Media errors... excitement level dropping

Yes Andrew, I gave up with the AFT adapter.
It would not even work at all with the new Extreme SDHC 16GB 30MB/s memory. The Kensington is working flawless (so far on day two) with all modes. I can not get it to fail. The only thing that does not work is S&Q mode, but no big deal, When I want slo-mo, I'll slap in one of my SxS cards. You should try the Kensington with your Panasonic SDHC. I'd be interested in seeing the data rate numbers using thw Crystal DiskMark software I posted earlier. Also, you really need to watch this software run and record each of the tests it performs five times. It over writes each cycle. It only takes one bad write or read for a card not to be "good enough". If/when you get the Kensington memory, let us know if it works with the Panny memory. The new Extreme memory is really fast. This is working great on day two of my testing. |

I bought this card reader from Maplin, only £15.
12 in 1 Laptop Express Card Reader > Maplin I haven't got the firmware upgrade yet but for anyone else doing the card/adaptor experiments this could be another one to try. Paul.

Paul, I'm not sure this will work as on the Maplin site it says:
"Q) Is this device high capacity (HC) compatible? - robert A) Not SDHC compatible. Paul
