About EX-3
According to Sony rep: The HD SDI out of EX-1/3 is 420 and not 422. The internal proccessing is done 420 and therefore although the specs of HDSDI are 422 the information outputed is only 420. The choice of CMOS over CCD had to do with consumpion and heat as well. The 1/2inch CCD sensor would have required much bigger body to work adequetly. Also the CMOS has better low light perfomance and dynamic range. The rolling shutter issue will probably be eliminated with the next generation of CMOS. On my comment that shooting 25p may result in less prominent rolling shutter phenomenon, since the frame rate is slower, he wasn't able to answer me. Does any of the owners has made any test on the subject? There will be a special promotion in Europe for the EX-3 combined with the HDD recording unit which will result in an E 300-400 discount from the combined price. EX-3 wide angle lens 8X4 (was on show but behind glass) between E 2000-3000 EX30card reader deck E 4000 About Z5 The sensitivity of Z5 is 1.5 Lux similar to PD170 dv. Remote control for Z5 (looks like playstation controller) E 1000. Doesn't work with FX1000 CF module for Z5 E 725 Z5 is considerably front heavy without the CF module in the back. Z5 E 4500 New very small 1080i camera (helmet cam size) with 10X zoom with recording unit (via cable) Most probably will record on flash memory and not HD Out early 2009 (before NAB) All prices include VAT If you have any questions please let me know. The above are list prices which mean that actual prices are 10-20% lower. There will be an SXS module for the JVC camera. more info later. |

Ex1/3 Sdi
Well this conflicts with Sony's official in writing statement about the EX1/3 SDI output "live camera10-bit 4:2:2 progressive signal" as per this DVinfo posting:

If this is true I'm guessing it's going to cause an outrage.

Since I just finished recording live 422, I would say the Rep was not reading Sony's own material or you misunderstood.

The guy who told me about 420 was a Japanese technician with not the best English in the world. I will double check it tomorrow.

I went back and double triple asked and the answer was always the same:
The live feed from HDSDI out is formatted as 422 but the quality is 420. I will start a new thread because in this thread is buried. |
