Support is there out of the box apparently. I have not tested it though. Supports 32gb SxS too.

Apparently not. Sony now says that the Ex3's with less than firmware 1.1 will not work with the drive. Supposedly, those are units shipped before 8/15, but owners with later ship/build dates are finding they have the wrong firmware (1.0x)

All well and good, but please have some consideration by also letting us know what version of firmware came with your EX3. That would be consideration for the folks who purchased units with the 1.0x firmware. Cheers!

Correction

And that is the latest firmware for the EX3. Please ignore my earlier post; it was based on an incorrect reading of an email from Sony at another forum. Guys were having problems with their PHU drive units operating on their EX3's and believed it was caused by having 1.02 firmware. It's not.

I called Sony Service Center in San Jose, and they said that 1.02_0078 is the latest firmware for the EX3, so whatever problems they were having with the drive, they are not firmware-related.

Ted, you press the select, cancel, and menu buttons all at once--but not the ones on the handle (they won't work),the ones next to the menu button. New menu items will appear at the bottom and you scroll to IF. It's in there.

so what is the chance to buy ex3 with old firmware??? or is the V1.02_0078 new and only one
on Abelcine web site it says: "At this time, the PHU-60K is compatible with the Sony EX3 only" so I guess it answers my question.

- is ther any way to find about particular camera firmware before it shipped from retailer or is it blind game
BTW what is best place to buy the PHU drive?

I was worried to read about different firmwares in the ex3 already. I bought mine early. It has a serlial of less than 200 and has firmware V1.02_0078.

Is there really a different firmware for the ex3?

It seems that that firmware is the actual one. And the fact that everything works fine (PHU-60) shows that there is no need for further investigation, or?
