EX-1 to SD questions
I know this question has been asked before but I can't find the answers so here goes again.
How are people dealing with the EX-1 when clients want SD. I'm thinking more as a cameraman who through away his HVX when he bought his EX-1. Now I still encounter requests top shoot SD. I can rent an SD camera and shoot tape of course. But I'm wondering about shooting HD or HDV then transferring the files at home to SD and delivering on a hard disk. Is anyone doing that? How are you downconverting? what file format do you give the clients? How is the quality of downconverted EX1 footage compared to say and HVX200 at either DV25 or DVCPro50? I've gathered from here that the best workflow if you are cutting a piece is to do all your work in HD then downconvert the final output. Lenny Levy |

Hi Leonard,
I'm having the same problem mate, most of my work is still SD and it drives me crazy that the EX1 sits in it's case back home and I'm forced to keep shooting on the Z1P. I've monitored the SD-SDI output from the EX1 on the Sony LMD2450W and the results were pretty impressive. Great picture so I think that this is the way to go. I'm looking for a portable record solution much like Convergent Designs flash XDR but sadly the XDR is HD only. This way I can deliver the client a CF card that they can bring straight into their existing workflow and I never have to worry about tape again. Yippee. Sadly this looks like a dream at the moment.
