Have any of you nailed the LCD settings for accurate representation?
I know a LCD can’t be trusted for color. But have any of you nailed the LCD settings at least for accurate brightness representation? I know that also depends on the overall brightness around the LCD but with a hoodman it can be kept pretty constant. What settings are you using for accurate brightness? Let’s see if we can get in a consensus.

I haven't nailed it, but +25 brightness and +15 contrast gets me closer.

Cool. Pretty close to my own settings, which are 28 and 20 respectively. Anybody else?

Pretty close - 25 and 20 for me but the Hoodman is a must. I can't guarantee accurate focus without it. Oh I'd love to have a HD-SDI monitor. Good thing dreams are free eh!

Sorry Michael,
Yes of course +25 and + 20. Typo problem there. At these settings the LCD looks most like the image from Sony's LMD2450 via the HD-SDI input. However ambient light makes a huge difference to the EX1s LCD so I think some form of viewfinder attachment like the EX3 is probably the way to go. Cheers Mal |

I thought it was a typo Mal.
You're right about the ambient light making a huge difference to the EX1s LCD. That's why I use a hoodman at all times. How about the LCD backlight. What settings do you guys leave it at? Do you feel it impacts the brightness and contrast settings at all? |
