Would upgrading to FCP eliminate need for XDCAM Transfer software?
I'm currently running FCP 5 and am wondering if upgrading to 6 would eliminate the need to use XDCAM Transfer as a middleman software? If so, would that save more time in the importing process?

No you still need the sony software. It just that with FCP 6 you can edit the HQ clips instead of just the SQ clips from the EX1. When you import from FCP 6 it opens up the Sony software

Akira,
Right now there is no difference with the workflow, you would still need to use XDCAM Transfer with FCP6. This will change though...and hopefully soon. Apple is showcasing a new Log and Transfer plugin from Sony on the Final Cut World Tour. Here is a thread on it: http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthrea...t=log+transfer Last edited by Greg Boston; June 7th, 2008 at 11:41 AM. Reason: edited hyperlink to add 'www'. |
