Hi Malcom,
I haven't seen a calculator for the EX-1. Here are some calculations though. Shooting in HQ - Presuming 35mbps CBR 35Mb/s*60s = 2100Mb/m --multiplies data per second by 60 seconds 2100Mb/m*60 = 126,000mb/h --multiplies data per minute by 60 minutes (126,000Mb/h) / 1024 = (123.0468 Gb/h) -- increases magnitude from megabits to gigabits) (123.0468Gb/h)/8 = 15.38GB --changes from bits to bytes Total disk space cost for 1 hour of EX-1 footage is 15.38 GB. This is presuming that the 35Mbps is CBR. It is not, Sony has mentioned that the HQ setting is VBR, so your mileage may vary. However, the SP setting (1440x1080) does have a CBR of 25Mbps. |

Devin, I do appreciate the help with the math (never my strong subject). One hour = approx. 15 GB. thanks so much,
