Poor mans answer to the EX1 60fps
Apparently Casio (yeah I know) are releasing a 6mp camera capable of continuous full image capture at 60fps!!!
http://www.tomshardware.com/2008/02/...es_per_second/ Technically this is 2k at 60fps - which kind of beats the EX1's 720p 60fps limit. I know its apples and oranges (and that’s being kind)...however, with this kind of technology flooding through into the consumer market (the cam only costs $1k) are we fast approaching an era where some RED like start up partners with Nikon or similar to deliver a sub $10k camera that leaves even RED looking 'overpriced / old school'. Either way Id love to get my hands on the cam to see how well this 2k 60fps really works in video terms...if at all... |

While the Casio is able to shoot full resolution at up to 60 FPS, the limit is 60 frames. That would come to 1 second of full resolution 6MP, 60P video.
For sports photographers, this would be outstanding. For HD video production, you will be limited to 1080, 60i an 720, 30p. http://www.exilim.com/intl/ex_f1/spec.html The high speed movie mode is interesting, 512 × 384 (300 fps), 432 × 192 (600 fps), 336 × 96 (1200 fps). The 300 FPS is a bit lower than SD, but might still be usable. http://gizmodo.com/341634/casios-exi...second-gallery http://www.dpreview.com/news/0801/08010601casiof1.asp Other than You tube videos, I've yet to see a down loadable file direct from the camera. I've also never seen the origional image files from the camera. Bob Diaz |
