Conveying XDcam footage
What is the procedure for conveying XDcam footage to a network without purchasing a costly XDcam deck. Can it go to BlueRay via FCP? Will they accept that? Also, what is done for archieve of raw footage especially when shooting 10 hours of footage a week? Buy lots of large hard disks?
I am considering the EX1 but am comfused about the work flow. Thanks, Craig |

You'd have to ask the network.
I've delivered TV spots via DGFastchannel (MPEG2 Program Stream) via FTP so I don't use tape/disc at all. I believe Pathfire (a DG owned company) distributes VNRs and even programs that way too. Others have been known to take the self contained Quicktime file to a facility that can handle the master codec (8 or 10 bit uncompressed might be most compatible but ProRes might be a good option) and output to HDCAM tape. |
