PMW EX1 - First Day Guide
Hi folks,
Looking forward to getting home from a gig this week and tripping over a big box from B&H...! Once I do that, what are some of the things I should do when I first open that box. Final Cut 2 will get here ahead of the cam, so I'll have that dialed in before it gets here. In terms of prepping the camera, are there any tips, tricks, bits of wisdom anyone can pass along? I'm sure the battery has to sit for a lengthy time to get a good first charge, but other than that, is it just "go out and play?" Have people been doing a back focus adjust right off the bat? Thanks in advance.

Jamie,
I'd say order the "Mastering the Sony PMW-EX1" DVD'S and watch through those. That should cover everything in a nutshell I can typically figure out a camera in about 5-10 minutes after opening the box but after that, a read through the manual and a good 3 hr tutorial will walk you through all the details you will hopefull ever need. Needless to say - the knowledge you gain from other people's experience in this forum is priceless. I'm getting my copy today. I heard it's really good from the good folks here. Will post my mini-review sometime this week My back focus appears to be solid. Other than that - yup - go out and play -that is how I do it too :o) Paul |
