USB Card Reader Crash
I have been using my Sony USB S&S card reader and having some computer lock up problems.
I am running a Mac Pro dual quad core 3.0 machine with 16 GB ram onto a Dulce 4TB RAID 3 using FCP 6.0.2. When I use the XDCAM Transfer software I do some sub clips but mostly full clips and import one at a time. Most of the time it is fine but some times and I don't know why it locks up. Like just now 68% of the way through a 25sec clip it stopped. At times I have waited 15 min to see what it would do. This time I did an Opton Force Quit. It does not quit the program. The same with FCP it does not quit the program. At that point I try a restart of the computer. The screen stays gray on both monitors and the FCP monitor keeps the light gray bar up top. I am forced each time to hold the start button on the computer and do a hard reboot. I just trashed my preferences yesterday so that is not it. Also Jason at Zotz who built the machine has no idea why it is happening. Any educated thoughts? Last edited by Paul Cronin; January 20th, 2008 at 09:12 AM. |

Paul
Can you elaborate? Should we go back to 7.3? Or is it 7.4 that's helping, not hindering? |
