Sony MSAC-EX1 Memory Stick Duo ExpressCard Adaptor as recording media
Dear all,
I am wondering if it is at all possible to use on the EX1 the Sony MSAC-EX1 Memory Stick Duo ExpressCard Adaptor and Memory Stick Duo cards as a recording media? Thank you. Michael --- [www.dvshortfilms.com] [www.mksiu.com] |

I don't know, but I doubt it. Sony have said that the camera only works with SxS cards and not more standard express media.
It may work after Sony releases their promised firmware update which, it is said, will allow the camera to use standard media. |

If you look at the specs (write speed) of a memory stick, it's less than 35Mb/sec which is the bitrate of the camera. Plus it records other auxiliary files (metadata and XML files). And when you record at 60fps/720p30 overcrank (slow-motion), the bit rate is even doubled.

Good point.
But maybe it will be possible to use really slow media for lower data rate applications, such as undercranking, time lapse, or stop motion? Only time (and testing) will tell. |

Edit/Correction to my previous post:
There's actually a memory stick pro "HG" specs which is faster. Anyway, as Eric mentioned, the camera currently only works with SxS cards. |
