Updated Clip Browsing Software
Sony UK site:
http://www.sonybiz.net/biz/view/Show...=1193315622075 This will take you to a page that offers a 129MB download for, among other things, updated Clip Browser software for the XDCAM EX (PWM-EX1). When you open the ZIP file, there is all sorts of stuff in it. You will see other ZIP files embedded in the archive. The one you are looking for is named: ClipBrowserForWinV1[1].01EN.zip This is an English-language version of Clip Browsing software that is newer than the version being shipped with the camera. (The one in this archive is version 1.01.07.1567 - the one that comes on the CD with the camera is 1.00.something older) Testing shows that this version seems to Export ALL of the XDCAM EX recording formats I've tried including SP 1080/24P, the HQ progressive modes, even the SP 720 modes to MXF. (The original version had trouble and many formats were not supported). I haven't tried importing the result files into Premiere as MXF files yet...that's next! |

Has anyone tried downloading the 1.1 version of the clip browser?
I went here: http://www.sonybiz.net/biz/view/Show...=1193315622075 and the version downloading is still the November 1.0 version :(( |

Does anyone know whether this updated clip browser will work with Macs?
(the current version only works with Windows computers) Thanks, Malcolm |

I can't say it works because I'm a PC guy but if you download it there are separate folders for Windows and Mac. The Windows folder contains English and Japanese msi installagion files, the Mac folder contains a pkg file.

Thanks Ian...
By the way, what I meant to say is that Sony's clip browser doesn't work with a Mac if you're using Avid (Xpress Pro), as I am. It does work with Final Cut Pro. I'm waiting for either Sony to update the clip browser for Mac/Avid, or Avid to update Xpress Pro to work with the clip browser. I was hoping this new clip browser update might work for me, but actually, I have no way to test it (I'm putting off buying an EX and a new MacBook Pro until I know they'll play nice together). Cheers, Malcolm |
