What about the other EX1 features?
So it takes great video and really sucks in light.
But there's some other great features buried in this camera that I haven't seen anyone mention. 1) Time lapse. 2) Stop frame. 3) Overlay. The last seems extremely useful and the only other camera that I've seen that does this is the SI-2K. The SI's implementation is a bit more sophisticated and quite a bit more expensive but what Sony have given us seems pretty good for the money. I haven't tried this feature as yet on the EX, I'm wondering why no one has mentioned it though. If there's a way to get a clip of only a few frames from your NLE or CGI app onto the SxS card this could be one of the best features in the EX1. Just to explain what I'm talking about. You can select a frame from a clip and have that overlayed onto the viewfinder to check composition. |

Overlay has been a feature on XDCAM units since the beginning, which is perhaps why it hasn't been mentioned. It can be highly useful if you have to reshoot a shot days later for example and need to compare your lighting and composition to the originals.
