CineAlta

What is the difference between CineAlta and other cameras that record true 24p? Sony just announced the HVR-Z7U (handheld)

I wonder if the CineAlt has some advantages over something like this new camera?

I think it is only called do cinealta if it records 24p natively without pulldown.

Also, from my understanding, at least for the Z1 and the EX, they are manufactured at two different facilities. The EX being created by the CineAlta team.

CineAlta is a series of professional video cameras and produced only in the CineAlta facility in Japan to those standards. The Z1 etc are manufactured in the consumer facilities. Sony are very clear that the EX is a professional camera, in a different category to prosumer cameras such as the Z1, V1 etc (I was told a LANC is considered to be a consumer type of facility). How do the standards differ? I haven't visited the factories and can't comment.

24p recording and variable frame rate from 1-60 is also a part of the things that make it fit to use the CineAlta logo. Thats what Sony told us when looking at the camera at NAB.

the F330 does not have variable frame recording and is still a "Cinealta".

It is purely the native 24p recording.
