SD mode- Is it m2t or mxf?
Just wanted to ask if SD needs to be converted from mp4 as well? If yes would it be in m2t format or mxf?

That depends on what you want to do with the file and what formats the software your moving the clip to accepts. The camera produces MP4-files and the Sony utility converts to MXF. I guess you could transcode into any other formats using the right utility.

If you connect to a Firestore FS4 with the HDV upgrade you can record standard M2T files on that with the EX1 in SP mode and the firewire output activated.

Those above are 1440x1080 and interlaced. There is no SD formats like PAL 720x576 at all if thats what you ask. All files are in .mp4 and the Clip Browser only exports to .mxf. |

Oops I was refering to 1440x1080 SP 50i. Thks for the inputs. I think it would be possible to mix mxf and m2t on a single timeline with FCP or Vegas Pro..

Do you guys know if VideoStudio11+ can support the formats EX1 is outputting?
I read here that the Sony Clip Browser exports to .mxf files. Well are these .mxf files supported by Ulead VideoStudio11+ ? Stelios

No, it depends on what you want to test. I have a zip file with almost all formats in it called BPAV.zip under the headline Test shots for ffmpeg those are only 9-12 frames long but for testing NLE's

NewTek's SpeedEdit editor will also read the native EX files. I've imported all the NTSC formats and they all read fine, even on the same TL together! The only down side is having to go into each clips folder to get to the file, a real pain with many clips!
