Live capture through the HDV iLink port.
I was able to capture both live video and video recorded to SXS media through the Firewire port into final cut pro. As long as it is SQ and not HQ. Unfortunately I have not been successful in getting anything to go the other way.

good to know. I have in the past used firewire output on my Apple to a small MiniDv deck and then out to a monitor for color ref. in FCP. Unfortunately this camera won't past a signal through to the component output for monitoring.

"When an HDV-compatible video format (SP
1080/60i, SP 1080/50i, or SP 1080/24P) is selected, you can record the same images as those recorded on the memory card in this camcorder on an external device connected to the i.LINK(HDV) connector, or record the playback picture of the external device on the memory card in the camcorder. Nonlinear editing conforming to the HDV format is also enabled." it also says that component / sdi are live during recording and playback if the iLink is off. this is from the user manual. is it incorrect? vince |
