Eee pc solution for field work with EX1
http://eeepc.asus.com/en/product.htm
In my opinion this may prove to be a good solution for mass storage of clips in the filed with the the EX1 once coupled with usb external drives and SxS reader. A slight mod may have to be made for it to accept a 12v 4 pin source -cable to run Broadcast batteries or your own car battery if your really stuck... |

What would really be nice is if somebody would come out with a laptop that could be used as a real external monitor, with component or SDI input as well as being an HD capture device.
Sort of like a Convergent designs box meets a preview monitor meets a laptop. Clamp it to your tripod and your are ready for a days worth of filming. |

Soon we can see Apple's answer to this. But apparently not this thick and ugly and not 8Gb storage only...:P

Just purchased a eee pc 1000. Works ok with external hd and able to transfer the ex-1 files onto the hd. However, the file viewer doesn't seem to work properly on the eee-pc. The computer directory simply doesn't appear in the appropriate dialogue box and most of the functions are greyed out.

Well, actually the clip browser works fine with the eee pc 1000h. I just wasn't used to the new version of the software.
