PDX-10 firewire not working anymore...
We have an PDX-10 purchased in 2004. I hadn't used it recently, but now everything works except the camera doesnt show up while uploading videos over the iLink. I tried different cables, different machines (PC/MAC), software (iMovie/FCE). I am not sure if there is some sort of diagnostics or something to check the firewire link. Sony charges a fixed $575 for refurb. Has anyone else noticed problems with the firewire port?
Also, if I record using the PDX-10 but download it using another camcorder (HCR-HC1 HDV), do you lose any quality. I assume that you shouldn't but the picture looks so washed out in the HC1 LCD panel (and much richer on the PDX-10)!! Is there a relatively inexpensive/viable DV VCR option to download the movies? Thanks much for your help -S |

You can transfer the DV shot with your PDX10, using a different camcorder, without losing any quality. It's a digital recording.
