Sony Extended Service Plan?
I got a letter in the mail to remind me that my warranty is about to expire and that I can buy an extended warranty from Sony, either a 1 year or a 3 year. Last year I had the issue with my PD-170 where the LCD screen was flashing magenta. I called Sony and at first they told me that my serial number wasn't included in the recall, so I would have to shell out the $550 or whatever the standard repair rate was. After they got the camera, they discovered that it was covered, so they fixed it and I got it back in less than a week. So here's the question. What exactly IS covered by the warranty, if they weren't going to fix my LCD problem before? I'm having some issues now that need to be repaired, but if I'm going to have to pay the $550 anyway, what's the poing of buying the extended warranty? Here's the kicker, I have to buy it today. My warranty expires at midnight and Sony is closed on Saturday. I just love putting things off to the last minute.
