Check this do-hickie out...
got this from my Lighting & Cinematography class instructor,

You are not removing the original len, Justin. That is not possible with the PD150. This device attaches to the front of the lens to allow the use of 35mm motion picture lenses with the camera. It is extremely expensive to buy or rent. It will allow you to get narrow depth of field, similar to 35mm motion picture photography, and therefore a more "filmlike" look to the video. It is more popular on the Canon cameras with their frame movie mode. You can find lots more information in the Canon XL1S site right here on DVInfo Net.
