LCD and Viewfinder showing red?

I have a PD-170 with low mileage. This morning I fired it up and the LCD screen was flickering red. I closed it, checked the viewfinder and it was doing the same thing. Also, I could not see any lettering (menus, audio and iris info, etc.). I turned the unit on and off a few times, checked out the vcr function and nothing changed. Later I turned it back on and everthing was back to normal. Then just minutes ago, the LCD was solid red. What has suddenly gone bad? I last used the camera about a week ago and all was fine and dandy. Has anyone seen this before?

I don't know why it pointed to the wrong place. There is a thread further down that discusses what Sony will do about it.

Are you refering to the service bulletin that says Sony will fix it until October '07?

Sent the camera back to Sony and whatever my problem was wasn't covered by the recall. When I talked to them, they hadn't cracked into the camera yet, but told me they were charging me the flat $575 repair fee. I'm sure it's not costing them more than $10 to fix.
