PD170 / DVCAM mode versus SP mode

Since DVCAM mode burns up a 60 minute tape in 40 minutes is there any appreciable quality difference shooting in DVCAM to justify less record time ?

Will be doing a multi mini DV cam. shoot (PD150, PD170 & Pan. DVX100) of a well known band and prefer having the best quality recording.

thanks,

Ken

There is no quality difference between DV SP and DVCAM. The data that's recorded is exactly the same, and the only difference is the format on the physical tape. Supposedly this makes dropouts less likely.
