Re: Vx1000..

I find the PD150 to still be an excellent tool for video work.

Re: Vx1000..

I had mine from new and still used it up to a few months ago when it died ; can't justify putting new heads in it , although I did replace the viewfinder ribbon cable about a year ago ( common failure and easy DIY replacement ) .

Re: Vx1000..

I have one with almost no hours on it sitting on a shelf. Its been there for years. Kinda sad really. It is a very nice camera for what it does.

Re: Vx1000..

I have the 2000 still. It has a bad switch and the rolling menu selector is acting up. Sony did a terrible job in design on those two items, as this camera seems to have notorious issue. In its day, this SD camera line was the low light king. I would still be shooting it in some situations if it wasn't for the issues.

Re: Vx1000..

I bit the bullet and sent my 150 into Sony for the rotary switch and battery replacement and a general alignment. Since the camera has fairly low hours and I use it for training videos, it was a good investment. The camera works as if it were new. I wouldn't have spent $600 on it if I didn't make plenty of money off of the videos but it still delivers everything the customers want.

Re: Vx1000..

I had the menu wheel replaced on my 150 and 170 last year by my "guy". He's an authorized Sony tech and his prices are way less than Sony but his work is top notch. Anyway, he's been taking care of my PD for a few years now and they are still the low light kings, still do the job I need from them and may very well take me into retirement. I love my PDs.
Now if my VX1000 were still working instead of acting as a large paperweight...........hmmmm, dare I invest in a camera I bought in the 90s? No I think not but it was one hell of a camera for it's day.
