So I got a Beachtek....now what?!
Yes, I'm new to this so I need help. I'm borrowing a beachtek XLR adapter for my camera (VX2000) & I was wondering if you guys have any advice on setting it up. I have a Azden 2x shotgun mic hooked up to it. I hooked it up real quick (I haven't had a chance to play with it much) and I heard some hiss coming through. Is this normal? What settings should I put the camera in? What level should the mic input be? I'm pretty new to this so any help would be helpful. Thanks again, guys (or gals)! Peace

You didn't say what model of Beachtek you have. If it has phantom power switches, make sure they're off.
The VX2000 was known to have a hiss problem. Some people had third party modifications done to get rid of the hiss. To try to live with it, it's best to keep the gain control of the 2000 low, so the Beach should be turned all the way up, unless it's a model DXA-8. Do a search here on VX2000 and hiss for more info
