That's all. Others have reported even better results when capturing HDV and downrezzing in Vegas, but of course that involves a lot of rendering.
I saw a report attributed to the BBC which claimed they are going to replace their PD-150's with Z1's, but only use them in DVCAM mode. They felt the optics and controls were enough of an improvement to justify the switch. However their conclusion was that the resolution increase by shooting in HDV and downconverting firewire wasn't enough to be worth the trouble. They were also concerned about the potential for tape dropouts while shooting HDV.
