VX2100 tangling tapes

My Sony VX2100 is feeling under the weather.

It can record ok, but when I rewind a tape at high speed it gets tangled. I can take the tape out and it just looks like the tape has folded over slightly and moved to the side of the roller.

Luckily it's only damaged a couple of blank tapes so far.

Is there anything I can do to repair this myself?
I had been hoping to sell the camera and get a AX2000 so I need to get as much money as possible for it.

This repair requires a Sony tech. It sounds like you have a problem with worn pinch rollers or some other tape path problem.

Doesn't sound like a too expensive repair for a camera repair shop..

Hmm, any rough ideas how much it would be?

I'm tempted to try to sell it without repairs while making the issue clear in the ad.
Most filmmakers have other mini dv cameras so they may prefer a few hundred off the price and use their other cameras for capturing and rewinding.

What do ye think?

Keep or sell - entirely up to you.

If it is honorably declared sick you will get a poor price at auction and may drop more coin than if you have an approx $300-00 service and alignment at a Sony Professional dealership, then declare that when you sell it - a tough call.
