shooting a music video with pd-150
all right here's the dealy, we first intended to rent a dvx100 for it's cine-like look but there was just noway to find it available anywhere as a result we have to stick with the pd-150. the 2 cams have the same resolutions so i guess with intensive color correction we can achieve the same result as the dvx100. here are my questions. i used to own a pd-100 like two years ago and in order to get a filmic look i always set the shutter at 1/25(Pal model). a lot of people told me this process lower the resolution but isn't the resolution loss the same while de-interlacing , what do you think is truly better? besides what's the best affordable de-interlacing program(FCP compatible)? because there is a de-interlacing filter in FCP so if all these people buy these dedicated programs there's gotta be a reason...
now suppose i shoot with a 1/80shutter then de-interlace, what happen? do i get the stroboscopic look i should get or the de-interlacing just messes up over shooting above 1/50? i think that's enough questions folks thanx for your help peace |

I've seen results with dvfilmmaker and have tried it out myself to deinterlace video -- won't look 100% like true progressive, but most people won't be able to tell. Vegas also has some good deinterlacing plugins that I've heard are just as good if not better... some of the other stuff out there is sketchy... but it sounds like you're using a mac w/ FCP, and they make a mac version of DVFilmMaker... give their demo a try.
