Dual/backup camera question

A while back there were some threads discussing what camera to get as a back up camera or for shooting dual camera shots. The consensus was that you should use two of the same cameras as there would be an appreciable difference in the images obtained with two different cameras (ie a vx2100 vs xl2 or such). My question is, if you were shooting with a VX2000 could you use an FX1 as your second camera and downconvert to SD, or would the video be too different looking? I've seen stills between the two in SD and they look very similar. I assume the video in SD would also.
