Sony tapes with memory chips?

Went to buy some sony tapes for my pd170 and saw some with memory chips. What's that about? Should I buy excellence tapes or excellence with memory chips?

excellence tape and excellence with memory chips tape picture quality is exact same. Using tape with memory chip allows you to take tape out of camera and put it back and you wont loose any frames, otherwise you should use end search bottom. My personal opinion: i would'nt buy tapes with chips, cuz picture quality is same and and i would spend this money on something else
