Internal battery PD170 replaceable ?
Am presuming there is an internal battery that maintains clock and various other settings when not powered by external battery or A/C.
Everytime I change the ext. batteries have to go into menu and re-set everything (Time clock, audio, etc...etc.) Can I change out the int. batt. or is that best left to a repair shop ? If I can swap it out how do you access it and do have to order a special batt. or might it off the shelf ? thanks, Ken

http://faculty.colostate-pueblo.edu/.../DSR-PD170.pdf pg158, For some reason I can't copy/paste it, but it sounds like you need to leave the camcorder plugged in (or off, with a battery in) for 24 hours to fully recharge it.

My PD150 has the same issue, and no amount of recharging appears to make any difference - either from mains or battery.

The little rechargeable cell is fitted inside the top handle and it shouldn't be too much of a disassembly job to replace it. I never bothered though, and I found I could swap out a battery in a flash and keep all the settings intact.
