VX2000 for 1000USD? Longevity?

I've got a friend of a friend that said he would sell me his VX2000 for 1000USD, he only used it for 20 hours. Is this worth it? Will a camera that old last a long time even though it's been kept in excellent shape? please help me out guys

If he is telling the truth, it is a bargain. These cameras should last at least 10 years in light use without problems.

That said, you should check out the camera yourself before buying.
