If you are doing professional audio then just pony up to the PD cameras(150 or 170). The Beachtek is just not as reliable as the built-in controls of the PD cameras.

Another factor is the type of service you get from Sony. A PD goes to their professional service area while a VX goes to the consumer area - the service options are better.
